4 29'15" E
125,47 m

Location
The reference station 'Rotterdam' is located at the top of the building "de Maas", on the shores of the Nieuwe Maas river.

This station is sending RTCM via GSM and radio, and is also collecting RINEX-data for post-proccesing. This station also receives the GLONASS signal

In addition to the data, which is being continuously stored for the purpose of post processing, GPS corrections are also being sent out 24 hours a day for Real-Time Kinematic measurements.
The corrections, which are determined by the reference station, are sent out via radio and GSM. In addition to RTCM 2.1, each reference station is capable of sending the corrections via Leica binary format or CMR binary format. CMR is comparable to the RTCM standard format for GPS data.

Each reference station sends the RTCM data via a radio modem on the same frequency, but each uses a different time interval. This is regulated by a “Transceiver Control and Interface Unit” (TCIU). In this way the TCIU ensures that the signals from the various reference stations do not interfere with one another when the user receives signals from more than one reference station simultaneously. A major advantage of this technique is that the user does not have to change frequencies in the field each time he/she wishes to use another reference station.
